I am a multimedia artist whose abstract paintings and installations refer to feminism, allegory, cultural criticism, and lesbian subjectivity. Thinking in the expanded field of painting, my work operates as installation, drawing, painting and sculpture. By representing a visual lexicon of images and symbols I employ autobiographical references through gay iconography, Christian imagery, sexuality and gender identity. The generative process produces contradicting narratives, transforms into a catalyst for social critique and induces paradoxical thought. The enigmatic value system inherently constructed turns towards irreverence.

There is a level of agitation inherent within associating the history of abstract painting, figure painting and queer discourse. I am interested in the theoretical and the immediate. Pure abstraction follows figurative explicitness. Sculptures become accessories for the paintings, they are discreet objects. A saturated color palette creates visual punctuation’s. Embracing free association within my process I construct complex narratives and art languages stemming from psychoanalysis. By critiquing the original, image making becomes a type of weaponry.
